Salt Work 2004

After They Left their Clothes by the Water, Solondz continued working with salt and became interested in it’s many physical attributes and the way it transformed from solid to liquid and back again.  Utilizing the way salt water moves along a surface, (capillary action,) she grew salt stalactites, (from the ceiling,) dripped salt stalagmites, (from the ground up,) built mounds, and let crystals grow on compressed and carved salt bricks, (used for animal salt licks.)  The work had a very experimental quality that drew inspiration from scientific process.
